Smilow Collegiate

Smilow Collegiate is a free, open-enrollment public charter school serving scholars in grades kindergarten through second and will add third grade in the upcoming school year and fourth grade the year after. As a part of the RePublic Schools network, Smilow Collegiate is dedicated to reimagining public education in the South. We focus heavily on building strong foundational skills in math, reading, and computer science that will set our scholars up for future academic success.

City of Byram, MS

Byram originally incorporated in 1870. The town was named for A.M. Byram, an early settler who donated land for the location of the depot. The town surrendered its incorporation during the Great Depression when it could no longer fund municipal services.

In 2007, a judge ruled that Byram could incorporate with about 20 square miles (52 km). On June 15, 2009, Byram officially became Mississippi’s 297th municipality. It’s Mayor and Board of Aldermen were sworn in Monday, June 22nd, 2009 at the State Capitol.

Home of the Swinging Bridge – Built in 1905, the Byram Swinging Bridge was the only access across the Pearl River at Byram. It is one of the few remaining examples of a popular type of short-span vehicular suspension bridge often constructed in Mississippi in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Since approximately 1987, the Byram Swinging Bridge has only been open to foot traffic and is now a historical landmark.

Town of Terry, MS

The area that would eventually become known as “Terry” was first settled in 1811 by settlers from Virginia. In 1867, the Town of Terry was established when the railroad was built through the area.

The town of Terry is located on Interstate 55 in Hinds County, Mississippi, about 15 miles southwest of the capital city of Jackson. It is in Hinds County Supervisor’s District Five

Mississippi Community College Board

For over 33 years, the Mississippi Community College Board (MCCB) has proudly served the state’s community colleges by concentrating efforts to improve statewide educational opportunities and advancement of the community college system through coordination, support, leadership, and advocacy. The MCCB supports the 15 community colleges as they educate and train Mississippi’s future by delivering more than 250 programs of study to over 97,400 students annually.

Jackson Municipal Airport Authority

Hawkins Field provides excellent facilities and services for private and corporate pilots, both transient and home-based.

In February 1928, 151 acres of land were purchased for the sum of $53,500 to open Davis Field, Jackson, Mississippi’s first airport. Davis Field is now known as Hawkins Field. Delta Air Lines’ inaugural flight was in 1929. In June of 1941, Hawkins Field was designated as an Army Air Base. The facility was used as a pilot training center through January 1949, at which time it reverted to civilian aviation status.
